Dr Vikki Smith

Dr Vikki Smith is a Consultant Midwife based at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust.

Her role focuses on improving access to maternity care, reducing the impact of health inequalities, and supporting personalised care for women with preferences that are outside current guidance.

Vikki’s research interests focus on the organisation and provision of maternity care and ultrasound screening during pregnancy.

Vikki is an advocate for NMAHP research capacity building at a local, regional, and national level and is an NIHR 70@70 Midwife Research Leader Alumni and was previously an NIHR Midwifery Research Advocate.
